Woodlands Trust Assembly

On Friday we were very lucky to have a visit from Lewis McNeil, who works with Landscapes for Learning in association with the Woodland Trust. His assembly was incredibly informative, the children learnt many interesting facts about trees and their importance. Lewis was very impressed with how well the children could identify some trees from their leaves.

After the assembly Lewis gave us advice as to which trees we could grow and where. I am very excited to say that we will shortly be receiving a free delivery of over 100 hedgerow saplings to put around our perimeter fence. These will be predominately wild soft fruits such as Sloe, Elderberry and Wild Cherry. We will need volunteers to help plant! It’s lovely to think that with over a 100 saplings being donated, every child in the school will be able to plant one!
