Able Writers Day
On Tuesday, a small group of children from Swallows Class went to Hoath Primary School to take part in an ‘Able Writers Day’ with the author Rob Parkinson
During the day the children had the opportunity to work with pupils from several other local primary schools, and they participated in workshops aimed at improving their story-writing skills based on a ‘three wishes’ story format. As well as being able to share their ideas and write their own stories, the children listened to the author telling some of his own stories, accompanied by a range of musical instruments.
They brought their story plans back to school where they will be included in their Writing Journals, and hopefully they will be able to use some of the skills and techniques they picked up on Tuesday in their future writing.
At the end of the day the author signed a copy of his book, dedicated to Swallows Class, so that all of the KS1 children will have a chance to read and enjoy his stories and poems.
