Area of responsibility: Safeguarding & Health and Safety

I am a retired senior social worker having worked for Kent's Children's Specialist Services for 28 years predominantly in frontline child protection managing, assessing risk, and supporting children and their families. My previous roles included team manager and Education safeguarding lead for East Kent. I have delivered safeguarding training across a wide spectrum of the children’s workforce, in house training to the district social work teams, schools and early years providers.  

Prior to retiring I was a senior Social Worker in the Children's Specialist Front Door service. This covered all referrals from professionals and members of the public within the Kent area. Including  working in a consultative role with partner agencies, parents and their families in assessing risk during times of crisis. An added area of interest of mine is, I took a lead role in relation to exploitation and gangs across Thanet to map potential hot spots and areas of concern.

I am passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and those that require particular care and support. Giving children a voice is vital and having the child’s contribution is critical to get a sense of the child’s day to day lived experience. I enjoy being part of a team and I believe that providing children with education is an important start and foundation to their lives. and ensuring the best possible outcomes for the children.
